The Project – 100 Internships From Virgin Media

15 May 2012

The Project – 100 Internships From Virgin Media Virgin Media Pioneers and Virgin Unite have teamed up to offer 100 paid internships to 18 to 29 year olds who are currently out of work.

Dubbed, “The Project”, the joint initiative will place the under 30s into a week’s paid work experience with media companies and industry experts in July 2012.

All 100 of the interns will receive pay, training and an Enterprise qualification from the Open College Network.

Following the initial 7 day internships, a panel of judges, including Virgin’s Richard Branson, will whittle down the candidates to a final ten who will go on to organise and stage a one-night-only festival at the Royal Opera House in London at the beginning of September 2012.

In the run up to the staging of the Royal Opera House event, the lucky ten will continue on a two month paid internship where they will learn the skills they will need to put on the big show. The media hopefuls will also have the chance to network with lots of influential industry contacts along the way.

The Virgin Media Pioneers website gives these details about the internships: “Participants will work with industry experts and gain the experience, insight and contacts you need to work or build a business in the event, entertainment or creative industries. The Project is a great opportunity for you to not only gain training in organising events, but to actually put those skills to use by producing a live event at The Royal Opera House in London.”
