Enterprise Zone Status Could Bring 5,000 Derbyshire Jobs

28 Mar 2012

Enterprise Zone Status Could Bring 5,000 Derbyshire Jobs Government approval of the Markham Vale site as an Enterprise Zone could lead to 5,000 full or part time Derbyshire jobs according to the county council.

The 200 acre Markham Vale site offers businesses office, industrial and warehouse space from 280 square metres right up to 93,000 square metres and could host thousands of jobs in the local area.

Over 60 acres of the site has already been developed into business space and now Derbyshire County Council is working in partnership with Henry Boot Developments Limited to attract companies to the area.

Council Leader Andrew Lewer said the council had thrown their ‘whole-hearted’ backing behind the applications for the Markham Vale site at junction 29a of the M1.

“Markham Vale is Derbyshire County Council's flagship regeneration project – and Enterprise Zone status is great news for our commitment to bring 5,000 jobs to our site. We have already spent over £70 million to lay the firm foundations for long-term job creation at Markham Vale, with the new motorway junction, excellent accommodation and superb on-site support for existing companies and potential investors alike,” said Councillor Lewer.
