Starbucks To Filter Through 5,000 Jobs In 5 Years

12 Dec 2011

Starbucks To Filter Through 5,000 Jobs In 5 Years Starbucks has announced that it will create up to 5,000 new full and part time jobs in the United Kingdom as it expands over the next five years.

The company will ramp up the number of its drive-through outlets across the UK from just nine at the moment, to around 200 in five year’s time. The company will advertise an average of 1,000 new full and part time jobs over the next half decade to satisfy the consumer demand for coffee on the run at these outlets.

“The move will see 200 new drive-thru stores opened over the next five years and will establish Starbucks as the market leader in this area. Combined with openings of conventional stores over the same period, the company expects to create 5,000 new jobs,” said a statement released by the coffee giant.

Kris Engskov, the managing director of Starbucks in the UK and Ireland said that young people in particular would be the main beneficiaries of the thousands of new jobs his company will create in the coming years. Around half of Starbucks’ coffee makers – or baristas – are under 24 years of age, so all of these new full and part time Starbucks jobs would be suitable for students.
