Big Wales Universities Better For Graduate Job Hunters

30 Jul 2011

Big Wales Universities Better For Graduate Job Hunters The big universities in Wales - such as the University of Glamorgan and Cardiff University - provide the biggest chance of landing a graduate job when you complete your degree according to a new survey by the Higher Education Statistics Agency.

Over 1,500 graduates of the University of Glamorgan were surveyed six months after completing their degree and just 6 per cent had failed to find a graduate job or go onto further study.

It was the same story for students at Cardiff University where, again, 94 per cent of graduates had either found a job or entered another course of study within six months of leaving.

Director of the careers service at Cardiff Uni, Les Rees, said his university focused on building the skills their students would need once they find a graduate job in the public or private sector. No matter whether students are looking for jobs in academia, multi-national companies or SMEs in Wales, the university and careers service at Cardiff try to equip them for the world of work.

“Our students are valued for their academic ability, motivation and resourcefulness. As one of the UK’s leading teaching and research universities we prepare students for leadership. Students benefit from a stimulating study environment, research-led teaching and interaction with academics working at the frontiers of knowledge in their field,” said Mr Rees.
