Interesting Graduate Jobs Chosen Over High Salary Graduate Jobs

Interesting Graduate Jobs Chosen Over High Salary Graduate Jobs According to a survey by Prospects, people are more inclined to choose interesting graduate jobs – or ones with the best training and progression opportunities - rather than graduate jobs with high salaries.

Over 14,000 people who had already found graduate jobs were canvassed for the survey and only 6 per cent said that salary was a crucial factor in their career decision. More important factors when it came to choosing graduate jobs were companies considered to be good employers or offering valuable training schemes (both 7 per cent), location (13 per cent) and progression opportunities (16 per cent).

A more important factor than all of these though when it came to influencing the choice of graduate jobs considered was whether or not the graduate position was thought of as interesting or not – almost one in five (19 per cent) of the graduates canvassed listed that as the most important factor.

Chief executive of Graduate Prospects, Mike Hill, said: “It’s refreshing to hear that graduates aren’t just seeking hard cash as a reward for putting in the hours, but are more likely to be stimulated by interesting roles that offer room for growth.”
