Aldi Creating 1,600 Jobs & 500 Apprenticeships In The UK
German discount supermarket chain Aldi is creating 1,600 new jobs in the UK and also has around 500 opportunities open to apprentices.
Aldi is accelerating its growth across the UK with significant investments and a wave of new store openings in 2025.
The supermarket, already the UK’s fourth-largest, is committing £650 million to expand its network of stores, reinforcing its position as a major employer.
Aldi’s expansion will create roles spanning Store Managers, Assistant & Deputy Store Managers, Store Assistants and Cleaners, offering diverse opportunities nationwide.
From March this year, the supermarket will also be increasing hourly wages for Store Assistants to £12.71 across the country and £14.00 within the M25 area.
The chain’s expansion plans include opening new stores in locations such as March (Cambridgeshire), Moston (Greater Manchester) and Lytham (Lancashire).
Aldi are also investing £55 million in and around London to establish nine additional stores; including in Wimbledon, Fulham Broadway, Orpington and Caterham.
Highlighting the importance of their staff to the retail chain’s success, Aldi UK’s Human Resources Director, Kelly Stokes, said:
“Our store colleagues are the best in the business. And, as we continue to expand our store network and provide more customers with access to Aldi’s high-quality, affordable products, we’re going to need to grow those store teams with even more amazing people.”
“We are committed to creating rewarding careers and offering market-leading pay for all our store colleagues. This year promises to be an exciting year as we bring even more Aldi stores to local communities across Britain,” added the HR director.
Alongside its store expansion, Aldi is investing in future talent by offering over 500 apprenticeship roles across the UK in 2025. All of their schemes combine paid work with industry-recognised qualifications.
Aldi’s apprenticeship scheme offers roles in both stores and warehouses, with pay ranging from £8.61 to £12.07 per hour for store positions and up to £11.18 per hour for warehouse roles.
Apprentices benefit from a range of perks, including paid breaks, shopping discounts, free mortgage advice and access to the bike-to-work scheme.
Commenting on the apprenticeship opportunities, Aldi UK’s Director of training and development, Lisa Murphy, said: “We have found so many hard-working and ambitious people through our apprenticeship scheme over the years and we’re excited to welcome the next intake of individuals to join our Aldi community.”
“Through the scheme, candidates will gain valuable transferable skills, become experts in their roles, and receive industry-leading pay at one of the UK’s top grocery retailers. We’re keen to attract individuals from all backgrounds, and we really encourage anyone who is interested to apply, no matter your level of experience.”
