Graduates 'should be equipped with good interview skills'

22 Oct 2008

Graduates 'should be equipped with good interview skills' People looking for graduate jobs in London should ensure they are leaving university with good job hunting and interview skills, according to an industry expert.

Joe McDermott, chief executive officer of Interviewgold.com, has said universities are looking to focus on ensuring graduates leave with skills that are beneficial to employers when they enter the working world.

He added that some university leavers do not think about the importance of things such as interviewing skills, and only realise the benefits of possessing them when it is "potentially too late" and they hit the job market.

Mr McDermott said his online interview skills training organisation had spoken to a number of universities and found that "employability skills are very high on their agenda".

"We see the ability to get a job as being part of this and this includes interview skills," he added.

Recent research by the central London company found that over a third of people have sleepless nights before an interview.

It also found that 35 per cent of people's biggest interview nightmare is being caught out in regards to lies on their CV.
