New psychometric testing for graduates

22 Oct 2008

New psychometric testing for graduates A new tool for recruiters looking to select the right person from an increasing number of university leavers looking for graduate jobs in London is on offer, it has been reported.

The Global Cognitive Index, created by PreVisor, is used to assess verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning in candidates, according to Onrec.com.

PreVisor said the tool addresses the problem of selecting individuals with the necessary intellectual ability in an ever increasing graduate pool, the website claims.

Jeremy Pemberton-Pigott, managing director of PreVisor UK, told the news provider: "We found more organisations requesting a solution to their pre-employment screening that could be administered quickly, easily and cost effectively across industries."

"Graduate recruiters have been using the same ability tests in their past graduate campaigns for some years," he added.

The company states that its tests are among the most accurate and secure methods of testing aptitude, skills and job readiness and claims many graduate recruiters have used similar ability tests for many years.

Last year, Professor Robert Burgess, vice-chancellor of the University of Leicester, led an inquiry Delete said that into the degree classification system and suggested students should be simply told they have either passed or failed.
