Travelodge to create jobs Students looking for part-time work to support their studies at university could be interested to hear the Travelodge has been applauded by a government minister for pledging to create hundreds of new jobs, it has been reported.

Employment and welfare reform minister Stephen Timms has welcomed the hotel's announcement it will generate the opportunities through 55 new hotels it is set to build along the UK coast, according to Personneltoday.com.

The firm says it will recruit one quarter of the workforce through the Local Emmployment Partnership programme where it will give job interviews and work placements to the long-term unemployed.

Mr Timms told the online publication: "Businesses like this show that the economic slow-down should have little effect on the UK job market. We need to keep extending opportunities to disadvantaged people in times like this."

In other news, McDonalds revealed earlier in the week it is set to create 4,000 jobs nationwide to respond to surging demand in its restaurants.
