German grocery retailer Lidl has announced plans to create over 200 new full or part time jobs in Northern Ireland.

Lidl Northern Ireland currently employs around 1,300 members of staff in the region, so the hiring spree, to be carried out throughout 2023, will see the chain increase its NI headcount by more than 15 per cent this year.

Lidl has over 40 supermarkets across Northern Ireland, catering for almost half a million customers each week.

The 200+ new positions are being created at the company’s regional distribution hub at Nutts Corner in Crumlin, County Antrim. Vacancies up for grabs at the facility include warehouse jobs and logistics roles.

Some retail jobs are also being created within dozens of Lidl supermarkets across Northern Ireland.

Launching the recruitment drive, Lidl’s chief people officer for Northern Ireland, Maeve McCleane, said: “As a major retailer and local employer, we are thrilled to announce the creation of a further 200 brand-new roles within Lidl Northern Ireland as part of our continued expansion and in support of our exceptional growth.”
