New Fife College Campus To Create 400 Graduate Jobs, Apprenticeships & Other Vacancies

Construction of the new Dunfermline Learning Campus, to be part of Fife College, is set to create around 400 graduate jobs, apprenticeships and other vacancies.

Global infrastructure firm Balfour Beatty will design and build the new facility in the village of Halbeath, Dunfermline as part of a £90 million contract.

The new facility will be able to house over 4,000 students from Fife College, as well as the local Woodmill and St Columba’s Roman Catholic high schools.

The Dunfermline Learning Campus will feature three conjoined buildings covering over 200,000 square feet and will boast state-of-the-art facilities for teachers and students alike.

Around 200 of the 400 vacancies to be filled will be recruited from the local area and bosses say that there will be opportunities for apprentices and graduates in Fife.

If everything goes to plan, work at the Halbeath site should start within the next couple of weeks and the Dunfermline Learning Campus should be ready for action next summer.

Balfour Beatty’s managing director of regional business for Scotland, Hector MacAulay, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to design and construct the new Fife College campus in Dunfermline. It is testament to our significant experience and expertise in delivering further education projects in Scotland.”

“Throughout, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to positively impacting local communities and stimulating economic growth, providing numerous employment opportunities for local people as well as work experience placements for students,” added Mr MacAulay.

In addition to Balfour Beatty’s £90 million contract, Fife College, along with Fife Council and the Scottish Government, have invested a further £130 million into the Dunfermline Learning Campus development project.
