Food preparation firm Bakkavör has launched a massive recruitment drive which will see the company create around 1,500 new jobs across the UK.

Bakkavör currently employs around 17,000 across its 23 UK facilities but is now looking to increase its headcount by almost 9 per cent on the back of renewed demand from consumers as the effects of the pandemic recede.

Bakkavör provides prepped food for most of the big supermarket chains such as M&S, Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose.

The majority of the new jobs will be at Bourne in Lincolnshire where more than 200 vacancies will be created by Bakkavör.

Other places set to majorly benefit from the recruitment spree are Newark in Nottinghamshire and Tilmanstone in Kent which will see 196 and 148 jobs added respectively.

As well as Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Kent, there will also be further positions advertised by Bakkavör in London, Cheshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire and West Lothian, Scotland.

Announcing the hundreds of new jobs at her firm, the company’s Chief People Officer, Donna-Maria Lee, said: “As we re-emerge from lockdown, we have a wide range of jobs available at a large number of our well-established sites, all offering great career development opportunities.”

“It’s important we continue to invest in the communities where we do business and we hope our employment drive will help many families to rebuild their lives after more than a year of lockdown.”
