Get Your Career On The Right Track With A Network Rail Apprenticeship

There are just two weeks left to apply for a place on the Network Rail apprenticeship scheme in 2019.

Applications for the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeships close on 31st October 2019, meaning you have little time left if you want to get your career on the right track with Network Rail.

There are 150 apprenticeship places up for grabs in this year’s intake at Network Rail, with the new recruits set to start training in March 2020.

Network Rail looks after the majority of the railway network in England, Scotland and Wales and owns most of the infrastructure of the railways too.

The apprentices could earn almost £40,000 over the course of the three year apprenticeship, where successful applicants will combine hands-on work experience within Network Rail with study time which leads towards a recognised and accredited engineering qualification.

The first 23 weeks of the scheme are residential and the new apprentices will be based at Network Rail’s Westwood training centre in Wiltshire. As part of the package, the apprentices can look forward to free accommodation, three meals a day, scheduled trips home and safety equipment At Westwood.

After the residential phase is complete, the apprentices will transfer to an engineering team at a Network Rail depot nearer to where they live.

There is no maximum age limit to be eligible for the Network Rail apprenticeship scheme, but the minimum age is 18 years old by the time training commences on 29 March next year.

Giving further details about the apprenticeship scheme on their website, Network Rail says:

“It’s the beginning of an epic career journey that can lead to varied career options. You'll have the chance to study for further qualifications and gain chartered membership of a professional engineering institute.”

“Whichever career path you choose, you’ll be working to transform our vast network of rail, lineside access points, signals, electrified lines and telecommunications to get them ready for the future. All the while you’ll be building experience that will set you up for the future too.”

“Our railway lines are the economic arteries of our nation. The vital work you will be doing will keep the lines safe and reliable for the millions of people who use the railways every day. Don’t worry if you’re not sure which path to take. During the assessment process our experienced recruitment team will identify the most suitable discipline for you, based on your strengths.”

If you are interested in catching this opportunity before it’s too late, then you can find out more details about the scheme and apply for a place on the apprenticeship via this page of the Network Rail website.
