New Luxury Coastal Resort To Create 1,500 Jobs In North Wales

A new luxury coastal resort in Pembrokeshire will create 1,500 full or part time North Wales jobs near Anglesey’s Holyhead.

The ‘Bluestone Holy Island Resort Ynys Môn’ development on the Penrhos Estate is being overseen by property developer Land & Lakes and holiday park firm Bluestone.

It will feature 500 glass-fronted lodges, a spa, restaurants, a subtropical water park and will come at an investment cost of more than £100 million. It hopes to attract thousands of tourists every year.

600 of the vacancies will be temporary positions in the construction phase of the development, while 900 permanent jobs will be created in the tourism industry once the luxury resort is ready for action, sometime after 2021.

Commenting on the development, chief executive of Land & Lakes, Richard Sidi, said: “Penrhos is a world-class coastal landscape on an island that has been a much-loved family holiday destination for generations. We believe that the landmark nature of this development coupled with its excellent transport links to the UK mainland will drive Anglesey’s tourism economy to the next level.”

“Millions of pounds of investment and hundreds of new jobs with careers in hospitality will mean exciting times for the local community. We are committed to ensuring that the people of Anglesey and local businesses benefit as much as possible from this legacy driven project,” added Mr Sidi.

Meanwhile, Bluestone’s Chief Executive Officer, William McNamara, said: “I’m delighted that Bluestone will create a premier destination on the Land & Lakes site that will bring millions of pounds of investment and hundreds of jobs to the area, while celebrating Ynys Môn’s incredible beauty.”

“We believe this project will do this, while giving hundreds of young people a start in their working lives and for older people, looking for a new challenge or a change of career. We want to bring success and prosperity to this special part of North Wales. We believe it will be a game changer,” concluded Mr McNamara.
