Royal Mail To Deliver 20,000 Christmas Jobs In 2016

Royal Mail is looking to fill around 20,000 Christmas vacancies for their most frenetic season of the year.

The temporary seasonal positions at Royal Mail will be advertised all over the UK, but with the vast majority of roles to be filled in England. Recruitment for the Christmas vacancies is already underway with new recruits set to start working various shifts from the middle of November through into the New Year.

Commenting on the festive recruitment drive, Sue Whalley, chief operations officer for Royal Mail said: “Christmas is our busiest time of year. We plan all year round to help ensure we deliver the best possible service for consumers and businesses in the UK at Christmas.”

“We make a substantial commitment in additional resources including the recruitment of thousands of temporary workers to handle the festive mailbag and the growing market of online Christmas shopping,” added Ms Whalley.

Royal Mail will recruit almost 15,000 Christmas staff at mail centres, distribution hubs and data centres in England, with 1,300 vacancies in Scotland, 700 positions in Wales and 500 jobs to be filled in Northern Ireland.

The balance of the 20,000 Christmas vacancies are to be advertised at Parcelforce Worldwide, owned by Royal Mail Group, with over 800 driving jobs and 1,800 sorting positions up for grabs at the parcel delivery division.
