The Sunday Times University Guide ranked Lancaster University as the best northern institution to go to if you are hoping to get a graduate job in the future. Over 80 per cent of graduates go on to find employment within 6 months of graduating.

Lancaster University champion the Lancaster Award scheme which tries to prepare students for the graduate jobs market. Students on the scheme get work experience, volunteering opportunities, mock interviews and job applications which help them to become more employable for graduate positions. On completion of the scheme, students are given the award which is run by Lancaster University’s Centre for Enterprise, Employability and Careers – which was listed 72nd in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers last year.

Speaking of the Lancaster Award, European graduate recruitment manager for HSBC, John Morewood, said that it, “helps students demonstrate that they have developed and possess the personal, social and employability skills that are invaluable to HSBC and other graduate recruiters across all sectors."

Lancaster has also been picked out by The Independent recently as the safest of 21 UK cities to study at.
