The Guardian London Graduate Fair, organised by The Careers Group, has around the same number of bookings from exhibitors as it did last year. This is great news for anyone looking for graduate jobs in London and elsewhere.
The Fair, which will take place on 16 & 17 June, provides encouraging evidence that recruiters are still looking to place people in graduate jobs this year.
The Guardian has reported that there will be over 100 exhibitors at the event which is claimed to be, ‘one of the largest graduate fairs in Europe.’ Exhibitors who have already booked their place at this year Fair come from across the whole spectrum of sectors and include Abercrombie & Fitch, the Civil Service Fast Stream Programme, Cancer Research UK, Hatstand, IG Index, the London Fire Brigade, McDonalds, Meltwater Group, Waitrose, the Army and the RAF. These are some of the biggest recruiters for graduate jobs in London – and, indeed, all around the UK. They have opportunities for graduate jobs in retail, engineering, media, finance and technology – across both the public and private sectors. You can see a complete list of all exhibitors here.
It was reported at the beginning of the year that the intake of graduates this summer would be down by around 17%. The Guardian said last week however that, “The reduction in numbers of graduate vacancies in 2009 is now projected to be much less significant than was at first feared, as employers appreciate the need to keep their workforce strong for when the upturn comes. Indeed many sectors remain virtually unaffected, with some employers even increasing their graduate intake this year.” The Guardian said that there were still thousands of adverts for vacancies and graduate schemes across all industries.
So, if you are looking for graduate jobs in London – or anywhere else in the UK - then get your research done and take yourself off to the Guardian London Graduate Fair.
