BAE Systems Creating Jobs For Over 2,400 Graduates & Apprentices In 2025

Defence firm BAE Systems has announced that it is hoping to recruit over 2,400 apprentices and graduates in 2025.

The defence giant plans to invest in the region of £230 million in education and skills initiatives next year, as part of a total investment in excess of £1 billion in the last four years.

The 2025 cash injection in particular should support UK apprentices, graduates and experienced employees in the defence sector.

Almost 1,300 apprentices are expected to join BAE Systems next year, with positions available across the North of England, South of England, Scotland and Wales.

The company also plans to hire more than 1,100 graduates and undergraduates, who will work on advanced projects such as the Global Combat Air Programme and next-generation submarines.

BAE Systems has recently opened its third multimillion-pound skills academy in Glasgow, adding to its existing academies in Barrow and Samlesbury.

The new expansion plans are part of the company’s ongoing strategy to enhance its training facilities and broaden its talent pipeline.

Announcing the recruitment news, Charles Woodburn, the Chief Executive Officer of BAE Systems, said: “As the UK’s largest defence company, we rely on the skill and ingenuity of those who deliver our programmes, which is why it’s so crucial we continue to invest in our people.”

“With thousands of roles open for application across the length and breadth of the country and our exciting high technology programmes, there has never been a better time to embark on a new career with us,” added the CEO.

Commenting on the development, the Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey, said: “BAE Systems are a leading light in the UK defence industry and play a crucial role in keeping the men and women of our armed forces equipped on the front line.”

“Defence offers exciting careers and this investment is a vote of confidence in the UK as a leader for cutting-edge employment, creating highly skilled jobs across the UK.”

“National security is the foundation for national stability and growth. Our Defence Industrial Strategy will ensure our defence sector is an engine for jobs and growth, strengthening our security and our economy,” said Mr Healey.

Applications for apprenticeships will close on 28 February 2025, while graduate roles will have multiple intake opportunities throughout the year. This recruitment initiative presents a unique opportunity for UK students looking for a rewarding career in the defence industry.
