Royal Mail Has 16,000 Full & Part Time Seasonal Jobs On Offer For 2024

As the festive season approaches, Royal Mail is gearing up to meet the increased demand for postal services by recruiting 16,000 temporary workers across the UK to assist with their 2024 holiday period.

As with previous years, the seasonal hiring spree offers a significant opportunity for students who are looking for employment during one of the busiest times of the year.

Just some of the temporary positions set to be available in various UK locations with the Royal Mail, include:

- Two major parcel hubs in Daventry and Warrington will hire 2,000 Xmas temps

- Five seasonal parcel sort centres located in Atherstone, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Daventry and Greenford will be recruiting for the holidays

- 37 mail centres across the country will have vacancies on offer over the festive period

These roles will cover essential functions such as sorting parcels and letters, as well as delivery and collection jobs at local offices.

With shifts available to accommodate different schedules, these positions are ideal for students who are looking to earn extra income without disrupting their studies too much.

Working with Royal Mail not only offers financial benefits but also provides valuable experience in a well-established organisation.

Launching this year’s recruitment drive for new seasonal staff, Alistair Cochrane, Royal Mail’s chief operating officer, said: “Every year we pull out all the stops to deliver Christmas for our customers. It’s our busiest time of year and we plan all year round to help ensure we deliver the best possible service for UK consumers and businesses.”

“We are continuing to make a substantial commitment in additional resources including the recruitment of thousands of temporary workers to handle the festive mailbag and the growing market of online Christmas shopping,” added the COO.

Temporary contracts started running from the end of last month and will carry on through early January 2025, giving ample opportunity for students looking for short-term work over the holidays.

That said, given the high volume of applications expected, we advise you to act quickly or face missing out on these roles.

In addition to traditional roles within Royal Mail, there are also opportunities with Parcelforce Worldwide, which is hiring additional drivers and indoor workers. This could be an excellent option for any of you students with a driving licence who are looking for flexible work arrangements.
