Sainsbury’s is gearing up for a bustling Christmas season by creating 20,000 new temporary positions across the UK.
This includes 18,000 roles at Sainsbury’s stores and 2,000 at Argos, aimed at ensuring exceptional customer service during this festive period, both in-store and through home deliveries.
The retailer is eager to welcome new seasonal colleagues to help prepare its stores, warehouses and online fulfilment centres for the holiday rush.
Positions will be available in various roles including picking and delivering online orders, assisting customers in-store and restocking shelves.
Team members will play a crucial role in providing the high-quality service that Sainsbury’s is renowned for, whilst helping to spread holiday cheer to millions of households across the UK.
The seasonal roles at Sainsbury’s will be offered on contracts ranging from three to twelve weeks, providing flexibility for students or anyone else seeking temporary work.
To support its seasonal workforce, Sainsbury’s offers some attractive benefits and incentives including free food during shifts and discounts at both Sainsbury’s and Argos.
As one of the largest supermarket chains in the UK, Sainsbury's now has over 1,400 stores and more than 160,000 employees. These Christmas opportunities not only offer a chance to earn extra income during the holidays but will also provide you valuable work experience in a dynamic retail environment.
Kickstarting the recruitment drive for thousands of temporary workers this year, Sainsbury’s Chief People Officer, Prerana Issar, said: “As the festive season draws near, we’re getting ready to create a memorable Christmas for our customers and our brilliant colleagues play a central role in bringing this to life.”
“Joining us during this busy time is a fantastic opportunity to meet great people and acquire skills that will stay with you long after the festive season. Our amazing store colleagues play a huge role in making Sainsbury’s the first choice for our customers, ensuring that good food is joyful, accessible and affordable however households choose to celebrate.”
“Whether you’ll be new to the team or returning to share the Christmas spirit again, we’re so happy to have you with us,” added Ms Issar.
