Sustainable Building Firm To Create Dozens Of Warehouse Jobs In Preston
Kerakoll UK, a firm which specialises in sustainable building, is set to create dozens of warehouse jobs in Preston.
The new site, being built for sustainable construction brand Kerakoll UK, will be located on the edge of Preston between Ribbleton and Grimsargh. Once complete, it will double the company’s current production capacity in the UK.
The major new warehouse and production facility is set to bring over 50 new jobs to the Preston area, as work begins on a £20 million development at the Roman Way Industrial Estate.
Spanning around 40,000 square metres, the facility will include both warehouse and manufacturing space and will serve as Kerakoll’s second UK plant, adding to its existing base in neighbouring Leyland.
Construction of the warehouse facility started last month and is expected to continue into 2027.
New jobs in green construction
The new roles will support Kerakoll’s mission of producing eco-friendly building materials, meaning many of the jobs created will focus on sustainable manufacturing, warehouse operations, production support and site logistics.
The expansion comes at a time when Preston and the wider Lancashire region are seeing increased investment in clean and green industries.
All of which makes this an exciting opportunity for any students looking to get a foot in the door of a future-facing sector.
Announcing the news, Tim Webber, the managing director of Barnfield Group, which is tasked with building the warehouse, said: “As we approach our 50th year in business it is fantastic to have been awarded such a prestigious contract.”
“My team and Kerakoll’s team have been working collaboratively over the past 2 years to get to an agreed position. We look forward to getting started and working with Kerakoll to provide high-quality, sustainable premises to facilitate their growth plans.”
Kerakoll UK’s managing director, Carl Gardner, also commented, saying: “This development is a crucial component of our growth strategy and will significantly enhance our presence in the UK.”
“We look forward to collaborating with Barnfield as construction begins. The facility will allow us to expand within international markets and will create 20 jobs when the plant opens and a total of 50 when at full capacity, which is great news for the borough,” added Mr Gardner.
Keep an eye on Kerakoll’s careers page and local job listings for opportunities as the site nears completion.
