Seb Smith, a student at the University of Leeds, has secured a perfect student job by becoming the brand new ‘Water Slide Tester’ for holiday firm First Choice.

Mr Smith, originally from Somerset, will now set off to holiday destinations all over the world on a six month contract to check out First Choice’s “Splash World” water slides.

In return, the Design Technology student will receive a salary of £20,000 along with all of his travel expenses in countries like Turkey, Egypt and Spain. Once his contract is up, Seb will also be treated to an all-inclusive week long holiday with a guest of his choice.

Not a bad gig, eh?

Mr Smith, 22, spoke of his eagerness to get in at the deep end with his new role: “I'm absolutely over the moon to be chosen as the new slide tester - and can't wait to get started in my new job. I can't believe I'll be travelling the world judging slides based on the biggest splash and adrenaline factor. It's going to be amazing and I'm really looking forward to being part of the team and to sharing my experiences with holidaymakers via Twitter and Facebook.”

Seb beat off competition from four other finalists to land the temporary job with First Choice. The job advert for the role sought out applicants who didn’t mind getting wet at work, were comfortable in swimming gear and were willing to travel if they were chosen.

First Choice say they are looking forward to working with the student, who, according to the travel company is the ‘ideal person for the role of slide tester.’

Head of Holiday Innovation at First Choice, Luke Gaskins, sounded almost as eager as Mr Smith: “Seb is going to be a key part of the team who will help us to give our Splash World customers the best all inclusive water park experience possible and we can't wait for him to get sliding.”
