Brentwood Council is setting up a range of internships and work experience openings for young people in the borough this year.
The council will provide up to three work experience positions for local young people aged between 18 and 24. The placements will start next month and will last for up to eight weeks.
In addition, Brentwood Council will also launch a paid internship scheme in September this year which it hopes will provide successful applicants with a window onto how the council is exposed to political life. The internships will run for nine months and will be with the corporate services elements of the council.
Leader of Brentwood Council, Councillor Louise McKinlay, explained why these internships and work experience opportunities were such a win-win situation for the community. “The opportunities on offer at the council will provide younger Brentwood residents with the chance to get involved in the day to day running and understand how local government is changing, whilst at the same time helping to deliver services to residents,” said Councillor McKinlay.
You can find out more about the Brentwood internships and work experience placements next month on the council website at www.brentwood.gov.uk.
