Amazon UK To Create Over 4,000 New Jobs In The UK

Amazon has announced plans to create thousands of new UK jobs as part of a major £40 billion investment, including the launch of several new fulfilment centres across the country.

The tech giant will open a new warehouse in Hull later this year, creating around 2,000 jobs - and a second in Northampton in 2026, which will generate a further 2,000 roles.

In addition, Amazon has confirmed two more large fulfilment centres are planned for the East Midlands, expected to open by 2027, with further job numbers to be revealed closer to launch.

For jobseekers in and around Hull, Northampton and the Midlands, this represents a rare opportunity to join a global company offering competitive pay, employee benefits and career development.

With applications for the Hull site expected to open soon, jobseekers are encouraged to check the Amazon jobs website regularly for roles in warehousing, tech and support functions.

The company has also revealed plans to grow its London headquarters in Shoreditch, with two new office buildings in the works.

Announcing the news, Andy Jassy, Amazon’s president and chief executive officer, said: “When Amazon invests it’s not only in London and the South East, we’re bringing innovation and job creation to communities throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, strengthening the UK’s economy and delivering better experiences for customers wherever they live.”

Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed the announcement, saying: “Amazon’s £40 billion investment adds another major win to Britain’s basket and is a massive vote of confidence in the UK as the best place to do business.”

“It means thousands of new jobs; real opportunities for people in every corner of the country to build careers, learn new skills and support their families,” added the PM.

Amazon currently employs more than 75,000 people in the UK, making it one of the nation’s largest private employers. The new investment signals continued expansion outside of London and the South East, bringing new job opportunities to regions that have traditionally seen less tech-sector investment.
