Job Description

Software QA Engineer with experience across hardware, networking or cloud-based IoT devices for a company in Glasgow. This company is incredibly cool, and comes under the 'tech for good' sector - creating a product that helps the planet become more sustainable! They have a list of eager clients who can't wait to use their product so it's all systems go right now. You will be leading the charge with one other QA Engineer to develop and implement backend and API software testing on a crucial product - sensors. This is a software testing role, however you will need to have some knowledge of hardware and how software integrates with it. This experience might be from a number of different backgrounds; working with Azure IoT devices; or networking; or smart meters; or the automotive industry; or more! Initially, you will focus on implementing manual testing (and this will always be a need within the business) but the aim would be to develop and implement automation testing as soon as is possible, using C# for the automation testing. If you have C# experience, that would be a huge advantage, but experience with Java for testing purposes, or even C++ would be something the team would consider. There is a thriving software testing environment in the company but this role is a little more unique because you will be able to develop the testing practices and processes in this team, and so really make your mark! Because of this you'll need to be someone keen to learn, as well as having the drive and confidence to just get going! There's a lot of flexibility on what your experience might look like, but ideally you would have some/most of the following skills: ** Automation testing (ideally C#) ** Experience testing software that integrates with hardware ** Cloud-based platforms (Azure ideally) ** IoT device experience would be a huge advantage! ** API testing ** Developing testing practices and processes ** Interacting with data teams (they will be able to gather lots of data from the sensors) This is a rare opportunity, with the chance to join a team and a company that a) genuinely care about you but b) also really care about the planet and using their skills for good. The company are as committed to their employees as they are the planet - and offer £1000 per employee to be used on however you chose to develop your skills/professional skillset, as well as time off (paid) for any exams (as well as the day off before to prepare!). The salary on offer is up to £50,000/£55,000 for the right person, but this would be dependent on experience. On top of that is a generous holiday package (35 days) amongst other benefits (private health insurance, income protection, life insurance, 6% pension, discounted gym membership, personal development budget, electric car discounts/car club access). As a company focused on helping the planet, some additional benefits include time off for volunteering and matching employees donations to charitable causes. This role offers a hybrid working format - in the Glasgow city centre office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week (easily accessible by public transport). If this role would be of interest, please do apply and/or reach out to Erin at Cathcart Associates
