Job Description

We are actively looking to bring in an intern into our London-based actuarial consulting team for the summer of 2022.It would be an ideal role for anyone currently at University; who's planning to spend time this summer in between years 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 getting to see what a career within actuarial analyst and consulting work really looks like.This is a paid internship, but please be aware that we cannot consider overseas applicants or individuals that require Visa sponsorship. A summary of the role is as follows:Working within a team of qualified and part qualified actuaries:· Acting as an actuarial and consulting assistant for portfolio of clients· Handling the preparation of valuations and cost estimates· Undertaking and supervising accounting disclosures (FRS17, IAS19 and USGAAP)· Coordinating data collection including editing and testing data received from clientsUndertaking and checking all aspects of actuarial work associated with pension schemesPreparing letters, reports and other client materials· Assisting in developing administrative procedures and forms used by clientsChecking day to day individual calculations as requestedParticipating in Buck internal projects, handling special projects or assignments as neededAssisting scheme consultants with the consultancy aspects of pension schemesEstablishing strong working relationships with clientsPreparing for and attending client meetings· Providing leadership, feedback and training to actuarial analysts· Building up consulting knowledge on actuarial and non-actuarial aspects of pension plans· On qualification, to progress towards obtaining a Scheme Actuary certificate and holding responsibility for a portfolio of clients and acting as a client manager for a number of these· Peer reviewing and ensuring own work is peer reviewed as appropriate· Maintaining accurate time recording and charging to clients where applicable· Staying abreast with applicable regulatory bodies· Adhering to Corporate Policies and Procedures (CCPs)· Reporting any suspected breaches to management/compliance department upon discoverySkills and competenciesAn all-round communicatorAble to prioritise, organise and carry out tasks within deadlinesGood numeracy and literacy skillsProactive and a team playerAttention to detailComputer literate
