The job will involve the preparation of accounts for a variety of types and sizes of business sole-traders, partnerships, limited companies, and LLPs - and will require up to date knowledge of UK accounting standards. Alongside this, basic drafting of the personal and business associated tax computations will be required. The job will also entail bookkeeping, VAT return and management account preparation using a variety of accounting packages, such as Sage, Xero and Quickbooks Online. From time to time, you will be asked to assist your peers with ad-hoc tasks and projects for both clients and for general administration purposes. In the first instance you will be allocated a workplace mentor to aid your development but will later report directly to the client manager in your work group. The Individual In order to be competent in this job, the core skills you must possess are: Computer Literate Microsoft Excel experience essentialWorking as part of a teamExcellent communications skills Strong organisational skills and time managementEnthusiastic and committed to a career in accountancyCustomer focused As a trainee, you are not expected to have any pre-existing knowledge of accountancy or taxation. If you are bright and dedicated to learning, then you are the perfect candidate. The ideal candidate will be school leaver with English and Maths GCSEs at grade 4 (old grade c) or above and 3 A-levels (or equivalent), at grade C or above. A University graduate would also require a minimum 2:2 grade degree. Exceptional graduate candidates with a relevant degree, could be fast tracked straight onto an ACA training programme.
