Health and Safety ApprenticeContract and Hours: This role is offered at 35 hours per week (exclusive of lunch breaks), 8:30am to 4:30pm.The RoleWe are pleased to offer an exciting Level 3 Apprenticeship opportunity to support you in becoming a Health and Safety Professional.We are looking for a committed individual who is passionate about improving safety standards and culture across the three schools, while supporting the Compliance Manager with the implementation, management and auditing of the corporate health and safety management system.You will support the Compliance Manager in the analysis and identification of health and safety issues and as your apprenticeship progresses be able to recommend a range of solutions which meet business objectives, supporting stakeholders to implement them. You will work closely with the Facilities Managers at the Schools’ to contribute to the implementation of statutory buildings compliance.The successful candidate will need to be an observant person, who is confident and able to communicate assertively and professionally to enable high standards to be maintained. This Level 3 apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for a suitable candidate to effectively develop and gain experience for a future Health and Safety career.Purpose of PostTo work with the Compliance Manager to help ensure the effective management of health and safety risks at the City of London School, City of London School for Girls and City Junior School.Supporting the Compliance Manager, with the implementation, management and auditing of the corporate health and safety management system will provide you with the skills you need to begin your career in health and safety.You will support the Compliance Manager in the analysis and identification of health and safety issues and as your apprenticeship progresses be able to recommend a range of solutions which meet business objectives, supporting stakeholders to implement them.You will work closely with the Facilities Managers at the Schools and Operations Manager at CLS to contribute to the implementation of statutory buildings compliance.Duties * Assist in compiling and analysing statistical information for the Health Safety and Wellbeing function, including the management and maintenance of records relating to safety e.g., accidents, incidents and near misses and be a point of contact for queries relating to accidents, incidents and near misses * To promote Health Safety and Wellbeing information throughout the three City Schools. * Help provide advice, support and monitoring of Health Safety and Wellbeing across the three City Schools. * Preparation of papers for the strategic Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committees and taking minutes when required. * Be an active member at departmental health and safety meetings. * To support the Compliance Manager with conducting risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify good practises and improvements. * Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of relevant Health Safety and Environmental legislation. * Help with the production of management reports, newsletters and health safety and wellbeing bulletins. * Assist in the production of health safety and wellbeing guidance and policy documents. * Assist in the administration of health and safety systems such as accident, incident and near miss reporting. * Assist in the introduction of a new Display Screen Equipment (DSE) management system * Ensure that you are operating within procedures, seeking assistance when necessary, working closely with the Compliance Manager on a regular basis. * Assist in dealing with telephone, email, and written queries in a timely and efficient manner, directing them to the Compliance Manager, as appropriate. * To undertake any other reasonable requests as directed by the Compliance Manager and Senior Management Team.Closing Date: 5th July 2022Appointments are subject to satisfactory references, the receipt of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate, medical clearance, confirmation of the right to work in the UK, and overseas police checks where necessary. The schools undertake further checks as necessary in-cluding prohibition from teaching and management checks. This post is exempt from the Rehabili-tation of Offenders Act 1974
