Gap Year Opp! - PA/Carer 4 Disabled Uni Student! - Health & Wellbeing! Gap Year opportunities for recent Graduates to work at the University of Winchester for a disabled student studying Health and Wellbeing. University Term Time Only. Job Title: Personal Assistant Hours - Live-in 5 Days on // 5 Days off. Pay - £160 per day worked. Holiday Pay: 5.6 weeks (pro rata) Start Date: ASAP Location: Winchester AskJules are agents for university students with physical disabilities who choose to employ like-minded Personal Assistants to provide their care and support. Our client is recruiting a team of 2 Personal Assistants to provide her 24/7 personal care and social support and help her make the most of her university experience! This is a great opportunity to spend a year doing something very different and meaningful after graduating from university, before embarking on a further career. About our Client Our client is a Third-year student, studying Health and Wellbeing at Winchester University having transferred from a different university after taking a year out. She has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy that causes her limbs to be stiff and spasm and causes involuntary movements. About our Client as written by her … "I’m a friendly and calm person who likes to have fun but also chill. My interests include crochet, audiobooks, excessive tv watching and listening to 90’s/00’s dance anthems and country music late at night. I need someone who is understanding and patient as it can take me longer to do things. It’s important that you are willing to help me socialise and accompany me to clubs/pubs, concerts, to the theatre, dinner with friends etc. I don’t drink because of my medication but I still enjoy going out. I need someone who will respect my privacy because there will be times I will want to be alone or with friends. It’s important you can do basic hairstyles (I have long, curly hair) and use hair straighteners. I would like someone who is comfortable doing make up and can do another person’s mascara and eyebrows. I don’t like to have a strict schedule at the weekend and will want it to be more relaxed." About the job You will provide our client's personal care and social support. This is also a "study buddy" type of role which goes far beyond simply care work and includes all the fun things you’d expect a student to be doing. Previous PA's have told us that with the knowledge that they are having a positive, daily impact on someone's life, and the relaxed, inclusive working environment makes this a unique and exciting opportunity. Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided. You will be required to work as part of a team of two PAs who will provide our client’s 24/7 care and support as follows: Personal CareSocial SupportNight Time Care While care experience is useful, it is more important that you have the personal attributes that make for a good "match" with our client. About You You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's care therefore full training in her particular needs is provided. You will need - To be physically fit, calm, patient and caring.Excellent communication skills.Good organisational skills.Able to follow instructions, but also able to work on your own initiative.A responsible attitude.To be a Non-Smoker.A good sense of humour.To be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways.
