Job Description

Job Purpose:The role of Tooling Apprentice is to support the tooling department in the upkeep and any desired modifications to the existing extrusion tools, help and assist with the potential development of new tooling and support the manufacturing function whist meeting all operational / quality standards.Key Accountabilities:Adherence to all organisational policies, management systems and standard operational procedures, including legal responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.Work positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel in order to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity.Represent the organisation in a positive way as to avoid the damage of corporate image or bringing the company into disrepute. Promote and Display the Epwin Core Values.Assist in manufacture of some new toolingCorrect use of all hand toolsTo learn to interpret and produce engineering drawings to standard layouts and specificationsService of extrusion tool parts including dies, calibrators, and tank platesTo correctly use various types of measuring equipment such as micrometres, slip gauges, and comparators to inspect completed work and ensure compliance to various tolerances and quality standardsTo safely and competently use various manual machinery such as centre lathes, milling machines and surface grindersTo program and operate CNC Machinery such as Machining Centre?s and Wire and Spark Eroder?sSupport production areas in technical assessment of tooling issuesPreventative maintenance of toolingTooling improvementsTo assist where required with tooling start-ups and trialsAdvocate in the correct use and storage of partsDesirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:Good level of numeracy and literacy.Ability to use a PC to an operational level.Good communication skills.Mechanically minded with good dexterity
