Job Description :Role: Intern – Modelling supportRoles and responsibilities:The primary focus of this role is to support the new modelling unit lead in conceptualising, building, validating and approving models built for our pharmaceutical manufacturer clients.You will work on a variety of pharmaceutical and healthcare products, from medicines for very rare diseases, through to medicines for cancer or more common yet high impact conditions such as diabetes or Parkinson’s disease. As an agency, we produce a range of materials to support decision makers in assessing the value of these medicines; including interactive pdf and ePub presentations, leaflets, posters, brochures, training manuals, Excel models, Word and PowerPoint documents. The goal is to get the clients’ message across in a compelling way, whilst ensuring accuracy from copy to artwork. The models we produce tend to assess the budget impact of medicines over a number of years, whilst also assessing the impact they have on use of healthcare resources, such as hospital appointments, blood tests, A&E attendances. They also sometime pull data from other sources such as national prescribing data, to provide an accurate real time view for a local area in the NHS. These tools, once developed, are used by field sales teams who use them as a tool for discussing different levels of medicine use and modelling the impact with NHS customers. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to support other business activities, including:Performing technical accuracy checks of written materials/presentationsUploading and reference tagging of materials on client approval tools (e.g. Veeva PromoMats – training to be provided)Updating documents as they go through the client approval process.Training and supervision to be provided throughout.Essential competencies required:Highly competent with Microsoft Excel (proficiency with VBA in Excel, HTML5 or other coding language is desirable)Understanding of modelling approach (past experience in working with mathematical models desirable). Health economic modelling experience desirable but not necessary.Able to understand the user experience of models built (past experience in coding user interface desirable)Broad scientific medical knowledge to be able to understand clinical trial data for pharmaceuticals and disease background evidence across a large range of different clinical specialitiesAble to understand and interpret complex clinical medical data from clinical trials studies, including understanding of clinical study design, statistical analysis (p values, hazard ratios, study power) and hierarchies of evidenceBrilliant attention to detail, and ability to concentrate on a task to completionAbility to interact, communicate and present ideasHighly competent with PC (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)Professionalism regarding time and deadlinesAbility to take constructive criticism and make changesGood customer service skills with internal stakeholders and a strong work ethicSelf-starter with the ability to work independently whilst under supervisionReporting to:Murtada Al-Saif – Senior ConsultantSalary:London living wageContract durationFull time.
