About The Role FX Plus are seeking a motivated, customer focussed Library and Archives Apprentice to join their team. This exciting role is an opportunity for someone eager to take their first steps into the Library and Information Management sector. In this post you will provide operational support and specialist assistance to a range of students and staff across multiple sites and will work flexibly within a team to ensure effective, efficient library service in both the physical and digital space.As part of this role, you will be able to contribute to the delivery of high-quality academic services for Falmouth University and the University of Exeter. You will assist in the running of library processes; involving but not limited to, handling daily enquiries, processing stock, shelving and shelf tidying, daily circulation, and systems administration. This is an Apprenticeship Grade role, and the successful postholder will be supported to complete the Library, Information & Archives Services Assistant Apprenticeship Level 3, provided by LMP Education. This encompasses an 18-month course delivered remotely and a 2-month assessment period. The successful candidate will be able to develop a range of core knowledge, skills, and behaviours throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship. The areas covered will include but is not limited to; the development of skills to support users with finding physical and digital resources, the ability to exercise good communication and teamwork to achieve goals, to learn about regulation and compliance within the Library and Information Management profession, and to gain insight into the creation and implementation of policy and procedure. About You It is essential that candidates for this role possess a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths grade C/4 or equivalent or undertake as part of the apprenticeship, as well as an aptitude to work in a customer facing position. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to confidently engage with all users of the library, a degree of technological competence, and the willingness and ability to problem solve is required of this role. Alongside these key skills, we are looking for candidates with a flexible attitude to working hours and a can-do attitude with a keen interest in developing within the library.
