Well, here’s why we are saying it. We are embarking on a project to get our most important stories seen by more people than ever before on Google’s platforms. You will be joining our Google Showcase team, and will curate the very best stories from around our company and promote them via new digital products.So why is this the best position we have ever advertised? Well, not only will you be working with some of the best Journalists in regional journalism from day one, but you’ll also be playing a part in making sure the biggest and most important stories we cover are seen by as many people as possible.There is more: we will enrol you on a fully-funded training programme to become a fully-qualified Journalist. You will spend part of your week working within our brand content curation team, part of the week working as a Trainee Reporter in one of our regional newsrooms and part of the week studying on a two-year, NCTJ-accredited apprenticeship programme. It is a role like no other we have offered, giving you the chance to craft your skills as a reporter while participating in the development of the biggest stories of the day across our network.You will receive mentoring and support from a dedicated News Editor running the brand content curation team, as well as constant support from a News Editor in your chosen newsroom.We are particularly looking for people who in the past haven’t felt journalism was a career they could enter, or who look at news in the UK and feel it doesn’t represent them particularly well - or indeed at all. Reach plc is committed to making local journalism more inclusive and representative. Is this opportunity right for you? Key Responsibilities What will I be doing as a trainee journalist?You will be fully supported, working as part of a team producing digital storytelling and covering live news.You will have the opportunity to provide live coverage of breaking news.You will build strong contacts for story-gathering in our existing and under-served communities.With training and support, you will be comfortable interviewing, taking pictures and filming when out on the job.You will love all things social media and use these skills to build audiences and communities, ensuring content is shared on social platforms.What will I be doing as a brand content curator?You will play a key role bringing our stories to life on multiple mobile platforms.You will be working across a range of Reach plc news brands, selecting our best stories and breaking news.You will create panels to showcase this content, checking headlines, choosing images and publishing the content to appear in Google News and Google Discover.You will be working alongside other brand content curators, reporting to your team’s news editor.
