We are currently recruiting for a passionate Apprentice to join our wonderful Bright Horizons Mongewell Park Day Nursery and Preschool. Our nursery is situated in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.The place nursery is situated in a period property in a rural area, just a short drive from the centre of Wallingford. The rooms are spacious and the nursery also benefits from a dedicated indoor activity hall as well as a large outdoor garden area for the children to explore and play. We are very proud to have achieved ‘Outstanding’ in our last 2 consecutive Ofsted inspections.As an Apprentice working with Bright Horizons, you can expect a competitive salary, great company benefits including a retail discount scheme, and fantastic development opportunities..Purpose of Role:The Apprentice is responsible for delivering exceptional care and education for children whilst undertaking a formal qualification in childcare. The Apprentice works with a team to ensure the nursery is compliant in all areas.The role of the Apprentice is to support the children’s development in partnership with parents, offering contributions to observations and planning for next steps. As an Apprentice works alongside the nursery team to build strong partnerships with parents/carers and other professionals. They play an active part in creating a simulating environment for each child’s individual needs.The role requires collaboration with others and taking responsibility for working in line with regulatory requirements, BH policies and procedures to develop the strength and reputation the Bright Horizons brand retains.Responsibilities:Support and promote diversity and equalityEnsure you work as part of a team towards a common goal sharing ideas and feedback to create consistencyDemonstrate the HEART principles in everyday working lifeDemonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things doneWork collaboratively, demonstrating appropriate behaviour and expectationsWork in partnership with parents/ carers and other professionalsCreate the right environment to offer a unique experience for our parents and childrenDemonstrate and ensure good practice and compliance with the revised EYFS Framework through adherence to BHFS policies and proceduresUnderstand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you playPractice positive behaviour management techniquesMeeting the individual dietary, health, comfort and care needs of each individual childHave a child centred approach, ensuring the activities on offer meet the children’s needs and are age appropriateContribute to children’s records through observationAttend staff meetings and training sessionsWork alongside your assessor including attending all training required for completion of the formal qualificationHave ability to manage own time to complete required coursework in the given timeframeDrive own development through active participation in appraisals, one to ones and requesting supervisions where requiredPromote the nursery to current parents and potential customers, taking a BOLD approach to stand out amongst competitorsTo complete your Level 2 Qualification will take a minimum of 12 months and to complete your level 3 will take a minimum of 18 monthsUse reflection to proactively take on board new ideas and initiatives including feedback to enhance own developmentEssential Experience:NoneExperience Desirable:Experience in any role, which includes face to face work directly with children, paid or voluntaryExperience working with babies either in a professional home base or early years provisionQualifications Essential:Willingness to undertake formal Level 2/3 Early Years qualificationCan demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skillsWillingness to gain Functional Skills in Maths and English Level 1/2Qualifications Desirable:Full and relevant Level 1 (or above) Early Years qualificationA-C grade in Maths and EnglishFirst Aid or 12 hour Paediatric First Aid qualificationPersonal Attributes:Able to have empathy and an ability to understand a child’s viewShow resilience and determination to succeed in the face of pressure and difficulties. Ability to identify concerns and resolve complex dilemmas in a fair, open and reasoned mannerAbility to communicate clearly with both children and adults using a variety of techniquesAbility to work as part of a teamHave the ability to reflect on and respond positively to direction to improve own performance.
