Job Description

PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Electronic Engineering Technician Apprentice for our client, Viking Test. You will learn to interpret information, specify equipment for customers, negotiate with suppliers, undertake machine installation, test and servicing. Based in Petersfield the role will include national and international travel.You will eventually be able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality, accuracy and timely delivery of the work you undertake. As an engineering technician apprentice this programme forms part of Viking Test's succession planning for the future. They will support your personal and professional development. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process.Training to be providedThroughout the duration of the apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA's Havant training centre for off-the-job training. This will start as 18 months of day release when you will complete your foundation skills training.Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirementsWorking efficiently and effectively in an engineering environmentUsing and communicating technical informationProducing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD systemConducting business improvement activitiesGeneral machining, fitting and assembly applicationsMaintaining mechanical devices and equipmentMaintaining electrical equipment/systemsAssembling and testing electronic circuitsGeneral welding applicationsEngineering technician apprentices will then pass through the foundation Gateway to complete your skills development training in years 2 - 4 with your employer. Your Level 3 development programme will include:Level 3 Advanced Engineering (Development Competence) qualification delivered in the workplace by your PETA Job Coach, and day release for 24 months to complete a Level 3 Btec technical certificate.Overall duration 48 monthsAbout the roleAs an Engineering Technician you will be learning about all aspects of setting up, running and testing equipment for electronic component manufactureYou will be working with a small team of engineers on a wide range of business activities relating to printed circuit manufacture and related industriesAs an Engineering Technician at Viking you will be based at our premises in Petersfield, Hampshire and may be required to travel to service customers and visit suppliers in the UK, across Europe and the rest of the worldYou will be involved in a wide range of activities including installation, test and support of a variety of customer machinery including manual machining, chemical processing and electronic test equipment.As an Engineering Technician there will be opportunities to get involved in all aspects of the business which can include: Helping customers to specify equipment for purchase, negotiation with suppliers, machine installation, machine servicing, customer support, workshop activities and machine design and assembly.Once you have gained the required experience you will be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improvementBenefitsAuto-enrolled into the company pension scheme after qualification period20 days holiday plus bank holidays (3 days to be taken at Christmas)Free parking on siteOnsite restroom with kitchen facilitiesOvertime available Essential Skills5 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.Your motivation, drive and focus are the assets that will be best appreciated.You will possess good communication skills with the ability to communicate with peers and managementYou will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future developmentHave good numerical, logical, organisational and analytical skills Desirable SkillsYou will be organised and work in a tidy, professional mannerHave an excellent attention to detailYour logical approach to problem solving will enable you to perform to make a good contribution to all aspects of the jobYou will possess good interpersonal and written writing skills About CompanyOur client have trained and developed apprentices that now hold key positions within business.
