ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVESThe responsibility of this role would be to scope and define studies, conduct/support testing (both in-house and externally), analyse data and produce reports providing recommendations and outcomes to support product development. The Platform science team also deliver data to support advances in product stewardship assessments at a product platform level. The majority of the work will be desk based with testing/analyses conducted externally, with some opportunities for laboratory work based on project requirements.Within New Categories Applied Science the Platform Science team conducts studies across tobacco heating and vapour product categories to expand product development opportunities by utilising scientific understanding to support the critical transformation of new category products whilst maintaining reduced toxicant status.The intern will be responsible for delivering key science activities and projects aimed at generating fundamental understanding of new category products to support product development and understanding.The key areas of interest include: understanding key product interactions and influences of product design parameters on product performance and toxicant profiles; and generating product category data that supports the assessment of new technologies and products to support commercialisation. WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR Managing projects / key activities (timelines and deliverables) for both internal and external partners.Literature research and defining study approach.Designing experiments.Conducting / commissioning experiments.Interpreting data (collating, analysing and statistically evaluating data).Preparing for technical reviews.Writing reports and presentations, on key findings, outcomes, and recommendations.Involvement in preparing publications (peer reviewed). BENEFICIAL Skills in reviewing scientific challenges from first principles, resulting in proposing the ways to address, in a time pressured environment.Experience in statistical analysis.
