Abbeyfield Belfast are currently looking for an apprentice Support Worker to assist the House Manager in ensuring the well-being of the residents by providing a comfortable, safe and healthy living environment.As an Apprentice you will get the opportunity to “earn as you learn”; working alongside experienced staff within the field of Health and Social Care.You will attend Rutledge, usually on a day-release basis once per month, to work towards achieving your vocational qualification Health and Social Care In addition, you will study towards your Essential Skills Literacy, Numeracy, and IT (if required)Our team at Rutledge will meet with you and your employer to discuss your training needs and develop a tailored training programme that is right for you. We will be on hand each step of the way to ensure you successfully complete your qualification. Main Duties of the role include:Support staff have an important role to play in the delivery of service to residents and in the promotion of the Society to visitors, friends and in the community.SALARY:£9.00 per hour from 8am – 8pm. Night shift rate from 8pm - 8am is £98.28.Staff will, under the direction of the House Manager, and in accordance with the Society’s Policies and Procedures:1.Co-ordinate and deliver support services to residents to include:Meal preparation: In accordance with the weekly menu, prepare, present and serve meals in accordance with hygiene and food preparation standards. After each meal ensure the kitchen and dining areas are cleaned and left presentable. Ensure cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and storage areas.Cleaning: In accordance with the cleaning rota, ensure that residents’ rooms and all communal areas are kept to a high standard of cleanlinessLaundry: In accordance with the rota carry out laundry and ironing duties.2.Ensure residents needs are met whilst promoting and encouraging independence.3.Maintain appropriate resident progress notes, observing and recording any changes in residents well being and reporting to the House Manager where any action is necessary.4.Positively encourage residents to join in with activities and use the sitting rooms/dining room, promoting a sense of community.5.Ensure all rooms are maintained at required temperatures and are well ventilated.6.Ensure resident safety is monitored at all times. 7.Communicate at all times with other staff, residents, family and friends in a respectful manner.8.Greet visitors, multi-disciplinary team e.g. district nurses and act accordingly.9.Attend all relevant training as required.10.Ensure that all complaints are reported to the House Manager and recorded appropriately.11.Comply with the Society’s Health and Safety Policy 12.Participate in induction for all new staff.13.Work shifts on a flexible Mon-Sun rota basis.14.Work effectively with the House Managers and staff team in maintaining effective communication and excellent working relationships within the House.15.Ensure a comprehensive handover is given to the next staff member coming on duty.16.Any other duties as required by the House Manager, to assist the delivery of the functions of Abbeyfield Belfast.Staff will be required to perform any other reasonable duties as may be deemed necessary by the House Manager, Operations Manager or Head Office.Staff will be required to work across the Abbeyfield Belfast houses as requested by Head Office.All successful applicants will be required to make themselves familiar with and comply with the Society’s Policies and Procedures.This job description may be reviewed at any time.The Role Offers:•Full time job 39hrs p/w, Pension, Flexible Holidays, Skilled training and £9.00 per hour from 8am – 8pm.
