About the role: We have a new exciting opportunity to work as an Apprentice On Track Maintenance (OTM) Rail Plant Engineer.Working on complex Rail Plant carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to machines in service under the supervision of experienced staff and trainers.You will work on diesel engines, hydraulic systems and complex electromechanical systems. Working within purpose-built maintenance depots or on-site in siding.Your responsibilities as an Apprentice Plant Fitter:To report to and follow work instruction from Plant Fitters and supervisor.To maintain, fault find and repair specialised plant & equipment under supervision and guidance.To carry out inspections on plant & equipment under supervisionLive the Balfour Beatty ValuesTake responsibility for the health and safety of you, colleagues and other persons who may be affected by your acts and omissions at work, and for the environment.What the apprenticeship will offer: You will study for and be expected to pass a level 3 Engineering Technician (mechatronics) Apprenticeship in Plant Maintenance – the apprenticeship will last for 4 years and for the first year of the apprenticeship it will be in college full time.We will support you through your formal apprentice qualification in addition you will follow the Balfour Beatty Enhanced Apprentice programme. There are a mix of development events and activities, plus in year 2 you will compete in the Balfour Beatty Brathay Apprentice Challenge, to help us find the Balfour Beatty Apprentice Team of the Year! The challenge is a mix of community engagement activities and a team building event in the Lake District.
