Job Description

We have a fantastic vacancy for a proactive and enthusiastic HR Business Partner to support our Pub Support Centre (PSC) teams within Marston’s PLC on a 12-month fixed term basis.

Marston’s PLC is one of the UK’s top pub businesses operating approximately 1,400 pubs, bars and lodges. The passion of our 11,000 people and our innovative spirit continues to fuel our growth enabling us to operate pubs that both we, and our guests, are proud of. The PSC teams include IT, Finance, Commercial Marketing, HR and Governance, which in total has circa 500 people whose roles are all focused on supporting our Pub businesses, to achieve our strategic objectives.

This varied HRBP role would suit someone who is passionate about building effective partnerships with stakeholders and the centres of excellence and prides themselves on their strong commercial awareness.

We are looking for someone who can drive business performance by working collaboratively with Directors, Heads of Departments and Managers, providing sound commercial advice and people centric solutions, as well as supporting our employee’s with ad hoc people queries.

You will need to build strong relationships with your stakeholders and work with them to execute their people priorities. This will involve ensuring we attract, retain and develop the best talent, supporting your stakeholders with embedding engagement and succession plans and driving a performance culture, enabling us to achieve our ambition.

This role reports to the Senior HRBP and is an agile role, so you will need to be able to manage your own diary to suit business needs. Our office is based in Wolverhampton, there will be an expectation to attend the office at least twice a week, therefore you must live within a commutable distance.

In this role you will

  • Build relationships and become a trusted partner, embedding within the teams you support which will include: Finance, IT, Data & Information, Procurement and HR.
  • Partner with Stakeholder to enable them to take ownership and accountability for the performance and development of their team members.
  • Conduct monthly Talent Talks with the Senior Leadership team, sharing insight and ensuring appropriate actions are taken as a result.
  • Use data to provide insight and identify trends that will increase performance and engagement.
  • Drive and embed succession planning, analysing people data to identify gaps, trends and solutions.
  • Work in collaboration with the HR Centers of Excellence: Shared Services, Training and Development, Resourcing and other Business Partnering teams to enable the effective delivery of people solutions.
  • Liaise with the Training and L&D teams as required to ensure we have the relevant interventions in place.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their resourcing requirements and support with interviews for critical roles.
  • Support the wider People team with involvement in Project work in conjunction with the People priorities.
  • Ensure core compliance is met and that all critical people administration tasks are dealt with in a timely manner and meeting the required deadlines.
  • Coach and support both our Leaders and employees on Company policy and contractual terms as well as working collaboratively with the Employee Relations team as and when necessary.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant management meetings.
  • Deputise for the Senior HRBP when required.

The ideal candidate will

  • Have previous experience as a HRBP, ideally having partnered with Senior Leaders within their business areas.
  • Preferably be educated to degree standard or equivalent including full or part CIPD accreditation
  • Be a confident and engaging personality with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Enjoy working as part of a supportive, forward thinking and busy team
  • Be able to produce & analyse data, spot trends and make recommendations for improvement
  • Be energetic, passionate and driven by results
  • Have the ability to positively challenge stakeholders and peers
  • Employee Relations knowledge and experience would be beneficial
  • Have a full UK driving license.
