Job Description

Hours: 37.0 Hours per WeekWe have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to start their career in counter fraud investigation.The Council’s Counter Fraud and Investigation Team undertake a wide range of activities including preventing illegal subletting of our social housing properties, making anti-money laundering enquiries to verify the identity of individuals and organisations, and investigating a wide range of instances of suspected fraud. All of our work is done to a high standard to support criminal prosecution in instances where fraud can be proven.You will be responsible to a Senior Investigator and will undertake a two year programme of work and studies. This will include supporting and participating in a range of investigations and other counter fraud work for Solihull Council or other organisations. Alongside learning on the job you will be working with experienced colleagues and studying towards a level 4 qualification in counter fraud investigation. Further details of this apprenticeship can be found here:https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/counter-fraud-investigator-v1-0The role is varied and will include: Maintain case files and produce investigation plans;Attend and undertake investigative interviews ;Prepare notes of discussions and witness statements ;Prepare files, applications and orders for court;Obtain, record and present evidence in court proceedings as required;Prepare concise, accurate and professional reports including relevant evidence to support investigation conclusions. The successful candidate will need to have Level 2 English and Mathematics (GCSE grades 9 to 4 or A* to C) as well as administrative experience and working knowledge of I.T. systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
