Job DetailsAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) ACS & CYPS as an Apprentice Social Worker, working across Suffolk.We are looking to develop our next generation of confident and skilled social workers within Adult and Children's Services, and are currently recruiting for 12 new Apprentice Social Workers, employed on a 3 year fixed term apprentice contract.Social work is a challenging and rewarding career for people who have a passion and commitment to making a real difference for the people of Suffolk.You will have the ability to build relationships with those facing difficult times, show a lot of patience and be a good listener.Your role and programme requirementsYou need good observational skills, analytical thinking, sound judgement and commitment to make the right decisions and protect those you are working with. Social work regularly tests resilience, stamina, and resolve - all of which you will need to succeed.We are looking for 12 practitioners who have knowledge and substantial experience of working with children, young people and families or adults, and who have been employed with Suffolk County Council in a frontline capacity for at least 12 months.Throughout the Apprenticeship Social Worker (ASW) Programme, you will work alongside colleagues and practice as an Apprentice Social Worker while being employed by Suffolk County Council. You will undertake 3 work rotations, over the duration of your apprenticeship. Each rotation will involve working in a different team across adults and children's services.You will also be required to attend University on a regular basis. Upon completion you will obtain a BA Honours in Social Work allowing you to register as a qualified Social Worker. The programme will last three years, with all your course fees paid, and you will be guaranteed an interview for a Suffolk County Council qualified Social Worker post upon completion of your studies.To undertake this programme, you must: have the emotional resilience to become an effective social workerunderstand the value of social justicebe aware of risk indicators of different forms of harm to vulnerable peopledemonstrate intuition and logic in decision-makingshow the ability to record accurate assessmentshave a basic understanding of the Knowledge and Skills Statements (KSS) and Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF)be able to demonstrate practice-based competencies. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out before being accepted onto the programme.To be eligible to apply, you must: have been employed by SCC ACS/CYPS or NSFT for a minimum 1 year at point of application close dateGCSEs in English literature or English language and mathematics at grade 4 or above (or approved equivalent) including your certificatesmeet at least one of the qualifications and experience requirements below: A minimum level 3 nationally recognised and accredited sector relevant qualification (full diploma or equivalent) and 2 years relevant experience in customer facing ACS or CYP roleA minimum level 3 nationally recognised and accredited non-sector relevant qualification (full diploma or equivalent) and 3 years relevant experience in customer facing ACS or CYP roleA higher level nationally recognised academic qualification in any discipline and 2 years relevant experience in customer facing ACS or CYP role Travelling requirements for your roleThis organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role, you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.
