Job Description

The Apprenticeships Unit is an exciting and dynamic team working across the University and with apprenticeship employers to deliver high quality and industry relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. We are responsible for supporting the development, recruitment, and delivery of degree apprenticeships. We currently work with over 400 employers and more than 2000 apprentices.

We are now seeking to recruit an Apprenticeships E-Learning Developer to support the design, production, and development of enhanced e-learning resources. Working as part of the wider Apprenticeships E-Learning Team, the post holder will play a key role in collaborating with academic staff to enhance the learning experience for our apprentices. In addition, the successful candidate will focus on supporting our new and exciting joint project with the NHS Leadership Academy, the first one of its kind in the country.

Typically, you will:

  • Provide flexible, innovative, and resource-based educational design, advice and guidance to academic staff, and work with subject experts to design and create course materials and assessments, aligned to learning outcomes.
  • Apply multimedia skills and knowledge of e-learning methodology to assist in the design and creation of high quality and effective online course materials and resources.
  • Develop and lead training sessions on various software packages to facilitate academic staff in developmental activities, on an individual or group basis, according to their needs.
  • Disseminate good practice and identify specialist external training, so that academic staff are inspired and supported in developing and producing their own e-learning resources
  • To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A high standard of communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to maintain collaborative working relations across organisational boundaries.
  • An understanding of application of e-learning technologies to support and implement effective curriculum design.
  • Extensive experience of designing and creating online learning materials using a range of multi-media tools.
  • Knowledge of user issues surrounding the development of online learning resources, such as accessibility, usability, and user learning styles.
  • Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring. We particularly encourage applications from Black and Minority Ethnic candidates, who we recognise are underrepresented in this area.

We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations about this throughout the application process.
