Job Title: Aeronautical Engineering Apprentice - MechanicalLocation: RNAS Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall, TR12 7RHWorking Week: 38 hrs, Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday 07:30 to 13:30Salary: £10,100 per annumApprenticeship Qualification:  Level 2 Diploma Aerospace and Aviation Engineering delivered at Camborne college in year 1Level 3 Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Mechanical delivered at Camborne college in year 1 and 2Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Maintenance (Development Competence), delivered on site in year 3 Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 36 to 42 months based on completion of end point assessment About the role Serco has delivered defence services in the UK since 1964 - and here at RNAS Culdrose we employ around 300 engineers who carry out maintenance on Royal Navy Merlin Helicopters and a range of Mechanical based tasks on equipment. As one of our Aeronautical Engineering Apprentices you will develop the skills you need to join a team that is vital in ensuring the safe and efficient arrival, turnaround and departure of aircraft. The role involves highly skilled, complex and specialist work, maintaining aircraft systems according to approved work instructions and accurately completing aircraft documentation. You won’t be doing it alone though - you will be provided with unparalleled support throughout the duration of your programme by working alongside your colleagues, attending college, and getting hands on experience.Serco has a strong commitment to apprentices and training, and as a successful Serco apprentice we’ll continue to support your development throughout your apprenticeship. About you Firstly, you’ll need to have a Grade B or above (Grade 9 – 6 under new grading structure) in Maths as well as a Grade A-C in English, Science and one additional subject (Grade 9-4 under new structure) and have a strong interest in Aircraft Engineering.  To be successful in this role, we are looking for somebody who is, enthusiastic, confident, determined and hardworking and who is happy to constantly learn and develop new skills with an interest in Aircraft Engineering. You will be proactive, resourceful and efficient with a can-do attitude and committed to Serco’s Values of Trust, Care, Innovation and Pride.
