In 2021 we have a range of internship opportunities within our Transportation business. Our Transportation business covers Highways, Rail and Aviation, providing expertise across many disciplines: Digital Delivery including 3D Modelling / VR Visuals / BIM Civil Engineering Geometric Design Construction support Capacity modelling & Simulations Master Planning Project Management Drainage Solutions Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Operational Safety People and Places – Urban Realm Strategic Highways Structural Solutions incl Major Bridge Crossings Electrical & Plant Engineering Overhead Line Equipment Permanent Way Rolling Stock Signalling Systems & Engineering Management Telecommunication Engineers As part of our Early Careers Programme we are offering a number of internships, each based in one of our hub offices: Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester. We want our interns to be next year’s graduates and our future leaders, so start your career with Jacobs this summer. Interns will be given a broad experience with a number of Transportation teams within their assigned office, allowing you to get a broad and varied understating of the business and valuable skills to take forward in your career with us. We are seeking applications from penultimate-year students, working towards a degree in one of the following disciplines: Structural Engineering Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Telecommunications Engineering Across our Transportation sector we have a varied project portfolio which includes Lower Thames Crossing, HS2, Smart Motorways Alliance, A303 Stonehenge, Trans-Pennine route upgrade and East West Rail.Here's What You'll Need: On track for a MSc/MEng Merit or BEng/BSc 2:1 The desire and genuine interest to make a difference to the world around you Excellent analytical and technical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Able to produce well-presented and accurate reports Interest in new, digital ways of working, technologies and automation Committed to work and capable of managing own tasks, costs and meeting deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team Good IT skills Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have: Interest and knowledge of the markets/sector we operate Health and Safety training/awareness You will join us in the summer period and join our community of interns under our programme called Jacobs Campus. This programme will allow you to work with a mentor who will work with you in identifying areas of learning so that when you leave you have a portfolio of learning experiences to refer to.
