Job Description

KPMG in the UK support businesses to grow, help our people to achieve and our communities to thrive. Our largest practice is Audit, which helps to build the confidence and trust that business and society needs. In Consulting, Tax & Law, Deal Advisory and Technology & Engineering, we help companies to solve some of their most complex business challenges.

Why Consulting at KPMG?

In Consulting, we work across diverse industries and sectors, offering advice on how companies can grow with confidence, avoid unnecessary risk or deal with the unexpected – and plenty more besides. Our focus is on adding value, right from day one, across a breadth of areas such as Forensic, Risk & Regulatory and Operational Transformation through to Cyber and Technology. We do that by immersing ourselves in our clients' organisations and applying fresh thinking to deliver the best possible outcomes.

About the Consulting - Actuarial Graduate Programme

Our Actuarial graduate programme is a great opportunity to build a varied career and gain the Actuarial qualification in three to five years. You’ll act as an expert adviser to the insurance industry, helping organisations to manage financial risk; using detailed analysis of past events to create accurate models of the future – and crucially, advise on their financial implications. Within Actuarial, there are two different areas which you could join:

- Life Actuarial Services provides advice to the Life Insurance industry, who in turn provide investment related products (such as endowments or insurance bonds) or protection products (such as term assurance policies or critical illness cover).

- General Insurance covers the spectrum of business and personal risks, with types of insurance ranging from standard car and house to more exotic insurances covering satellites, oil rigs or hurricane damage. Changing regulations, new products and developing markets mean that nothing stands still in this challenging and demanding business area.

Our 3-year Actuarial graduate programme is a highly technical role, best suited to graduates who are numerate, extremely ambitious and able to communicate complex ideas to non-specialists. From day one you’ll be on a structured training path towards gaining a professional qualification; the Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Programmes are available nationwide, including Bristol, Edinburgh and London

Benefits and training

We offer a competitive salary and a host of great benefits, including 25 days holiday, study leave and a day off on your birthday. You’ll also have access to an extensive programme of internal training geared towards your career and personal development and be encouraged to make a difference through a range of volunteering opportunities.

Your qualifications

You’ll need to have, on be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a numerate degree. See specific programme pages for further detail. We will however look at more than just your academic results and will also consider your strengths, values and motivations. See our ‘How to Apply’ sections for graduates for further guidance.
