Role: - HR Officer

Location: - London

Reporting to: - Senior HR Managers

Hours of work - Full Time permanent. Our culture supports agile working and so working hours and location of work will be agreed with your line manager.

Department/ Role Overview:

This is a highly-valued HR generalist role that supports a legal division in the UK and a number of international offices. Collaborating with Senior HRM's and central HR teams in London and Glasgow, the role advises on a wide variety of HR topics to help us achieve our exciting business and people priorities.

Main responsibilities:

  • Work with line managers to develop and implement plans to improve employee engagement;
  • Evaluate formal and informal feedback from employees by synthesising and reporting key messages and proposing solutions to the relevant HRM/line manager;
  • Lead employee relations processes including investigations, capability and disciplinary meetings and support line managers to resolve them successfully;
  • Support HR managers with cyclical processes such as talent reviews, performance appraisals, salary review, budgets;
  • Contribute to HR projects as required, which may include additional involvement with initiatives such as Career Focus, annual engagement survey, business process reviews;
  • Responsibility for timely and accurate execution of staff movement processes including starters, leavers and global secondments/transfers;
  • Review and amend contracts, letters and ad-hoc communications prepared by central HR teams to ensure correspondence is appropriate, accurate and any risks are managed;
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting requirements and general HR policy questions in collaboration with central HR and finance teams;
  • Liaise with and support graduate recruitment and HR managers regarding trainee seat moves, qualification processes and interviews, to ensure business needs are met;
  • Manage sickness absence and occupational health requirements, working with employees and relevant teams to ensure a successful return to work;
  • Organise and facilitate elements of the London new starter induction programme;
  • Proactively share information, ideas and points of view to enhance business processes and policies;
  • Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Previous experience within HR advisory is essential
  • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Proactive ability to identify and implement business process improvements
  • Proven ability to communicate with confidence at all levels and strong relationship building skills
  • Client-focused work ethic, willing to invest discretionary extra effort to get the job done
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Team player, contributing to the success of the HR team through collaboration
  • Preference for CIPD qualified or working towards qualification
