What is the purpose of this role?

Working as part of the Sheffield team in the Transport Infrastructure division you will play a key role in supporting the commercial team and contribute to effective data and cost capture. You will be seeking to pursue a career within the commercial world and this will provide a solid foundation. 

What will this role involve?

  • Assist in sub-contract procurement including preparation of contract documentation, negotiations, agreement of commercial terms etc.
  • Participate & input into the promotion of innovative thinking to increase efficiencies and reduce cost base (best value)
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate determination cost / value reconciliation reports, understanding reasons for variances and prepare reports for consideration by management and operational teams
  • Measure works and variations in line with project contractual obligations and assist in the preparation of monthly applications for payments
  • Measure Work in Progress and advise senior commercial management for inclusion into monthly reports
  • Actively plan to reduce the amount of Work in Progress on the project by measuring works in a timely manner
  • Assist in the measurement of project commercial KPI’s to ensure compliance
  • Assist the finance team to measure & identify stock items not paid for by the client, to assist in the stock and asset management process
  • Assist in exercises to manage project forecasting activities ensuring high level of accuracy
  • Pro-actively Identify and highlight any noted areas of commercial concern and / or improvements to operational performance to senior commercial management
  • Assist in the identification and flagging of project risks and issues including preparation of risk mitigation and management of risk ownership.
  • Assist in negotiations over contractual agreements entitlement and advise on adherence to terms and conditions to establish preferred positions
  • What are we looking for?

  • Be studying for a commercial degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) or RICS Associate status
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Competent in computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and Word

  • Ability to time-manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines
