Job Description

About us.

We’re The Very Group, home to Very.co.uk, Littlewoods.com and a team of 4,000 super-talented people.

We’re the UK’s largest integrated digital retailer and financial services provider, and we’ve been helping customers say yes when it matters most for over 100 years. In that time, we’ve consistently reinvented our business to adapt to economic conditions and industry changes – going from bricks, to clicks, to mobile.

But despite our passion for reinvention, we’ve never wavered from our purpose; to make good things easily accessible to more people. It means giving our customers the brands they love, an outstanding shopping experience and flexible ways to spread the cost.

We’ve continued to deliver for our customers throughout the Covid-19 outbreak – and we’ve done it by transforming the way we work.

We’re fired up for the future and the next stage in our development. We’ll give customers access to more great brands for themselves and their families, a seamless shopping experience and even more control of their finances through innovation in flexible ways to pay.

About the team.

The DCX team are responsible for creating the online experiences that our millions of loyal customers (and potential customers) use every day. We’re looking for a passionate and ambitious intern to join us on our mission to re-write the future of retail and create world class experiences.

The team is made up of multiple different roles and disciplines who collaborate to reach the best outcomes. The internship reflects this, offering you a chance to rotate across three disciplines (Product, Delivery, UX). The internship is hands on meaning you’ll learn lots of applicable skills to take back into your final year (and future careers!). You’ll be owning your own projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing stakeholders and flexing those presentation and storytelling skills all whilst having a real impact on the websites and apps of the second largest pureplay retailer in the UK!

What you’ll be doing:

Product

During your time in Product you’ll join our team of forward-thinking product managers to help ideate on how to solve customer problems, prioritise the problems that we want to fix first and collaborate to shape the roadmaps and visons of what we want our experiences to look like (now and in the future!).

UX

During your time in UX you’ll join a team of talented researchers and designers who turn customer insight into action. You’ll get a chance to run your own research studies with our customers, analyse the findings and play them back to your team. You’ll then take your learnings and ideate with the team on how to turn them into solutions. You’ll turn those ideas into designs (using tools like Balsamiq and Adobe XD) that the squads will then go onto code and put live on our sites.

Delivery

Our industry is fast paced and we want to make sure the teams have the right plans in place that allow them to move quickly and pivot when customer expectations change. You’ll work with our team of delivery leads to turn the ideas of the squad into a deliverable plan, keep the squads work on track and collaborate with the team to remove blockers.

Sound good?

The key here is flexibility, as you learn more about each discipline we’ll work with you to shape and flex the role to ensure you get the most out of your time here at Very!

Role Requirements:

The DCX team is a talented team of individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives. Past experience isn’t needed as we’re looking for our next generation of superstars who will push our thinking, break boundaries and be pro-active in innovating on how things are done today.

This role could be right for you if:

  • You have a genuine interest in online retail experiences and customer behaviour
  • You’re currently a second year student studying a relevant degree (Business, Psychology, Design, Social Sciences)
  • You have an inner self drive, you’re a self-starter and pro-active
  • You’re curious to learn more and passionate about turning your ideas into reality
  • You’re a confident communicator with great organisational skills
  • You’re flexible and adaptable. A changing environment and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone excites you.
