About the role

It takes a lot of people to make one toilet roll and our engineers and technicians play a key role in maintaining and improving our manufacturing equipment to do just that.

JoinEssityas an Electrical Engineering Apprentice and you willhave the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to become a maintenance technician.

Our paper mill contains a vast array of machinery and equipment. Our paper machines are larger than a jumbo jet, and the machine speed is faster than the motorway speed limit. The site runs 24/7. Key toitssuccessis the reliability of the machinery. Innovation and sustainability are important to us.

Our Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship is designed to create our engineers and technicians of the future – a great opportunity to launch your career.

What you will do

The  Electr ical Engineering Apprenticeship blendscollege and work basedtechnical skills training.Whilst at work you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice with the support of knowledgeable and experienced teams.

Over four years you will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician. 

You will study to gain the followingqualifications in years one and two; NVQ Level 2 & Level 3 BTEC diploma in electrical engineering.

If you demonstrate the right level of knowledge growth and commitment during your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to study for a Level 4 HNC Electrical Engineering qualification in the final two years.

You will work Monday to Friday during your apprenticeship which will include a day per weekat ourpartner college, Burnley College. During your first year you will attend college full time.

Who are you?

We would love to hear from you ifyou can show the following

  • A minimum of GCSE grade 6/B in maths (essential)

  • A minimum of GCSE grade 5/C in English,science andtwo other subjects

  • The ability to solveproblemsfrom information gatheredby yourself

  • You can work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively– both verballyandin writing

  • You like to take on new challenges and work outside of your comfort zone

  • You can successfully balance study whilst participating in other activities

  • Key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.

    More About Stubbins Mill, Bury

    Stubbins paper mill is located just off the A676 in Lancashire and close to both the A56 and M66 making it accessible from many areas within the region. We have a large free staff car park and are located close to public transport. The paper machine on site produces tissue for our professional hygiene products such as TORK. This site has a long-standing history within the area and has been manufacturing paper for over one hundred years. You will have access to knowledgeable teams to support your learning but will also play an active role in driving forward continuous improvement on site.
