Job Description
EXCEL AT ALL THINGS FIBRE
Would you like to become a professional fibre expert? Want to continue studying, learning and working towards professional qualifications? Join us on our Fibre Engineer Apprenticeship Scheme and you can do both.
Get stuck in from the start
This is an opportunity to join our brand-new in-house fibre engineer team, who look after fibre splicing and fibre testing activities across our expanding network. Few other companies have their own in-house teams, so this is a real game-changer for us and for the industry – and hopefully for your career. The aim is for you to develop the skills and experience you need to progress into a permanent field-based role.
Build skills for the future
Over the course of the scheme, you’ll rotate through a series of placements, working with lots of different teams and suppliers so you can build up an understanding of how fibre works end to end. This includes learning how to:
- Splice and test all fibre types
- Plan a fibre circuit
- Diagnose fibre-related issues
- Read and work to fibre schematics
- Provide quality control for contractor work
What we look for
Flexible self-starters who are happy working unsupervised and solving problems on their own initiative. Good communication and team-working skills are important. If you also have previous experience of safe working at heights and with hand and power tools, even better.
